Bohemian wedding under the Grand Palais: CHANEL Spring-Summer 2021 Haute Couture
In the new collection, Virginie Viard, creative director of Chanel, wanted to convey the atmosphere of lightness, carelessness and a family holiday arranged outside the city - everyone is set to have fun and enjoy life.
The venue for the show is the Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées, which is located on the right bank of the Seine in Paris. For the first time in the Grand Palais, Karl Lagerfeld held a Chanel show in 2005. Since then, the fashion house shows regularly under its arches. Since the end of 2020, the palace has been closed for reconstruction for 3-4 years.
Before the show, footage of ambassadors and friends at home was published. Among them are Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Lily-Rose Depp, Vanessa Paradis, Joana Preiss, Alma Jodorowski.
Together with the models, they posed for family portraits in black and white at Chanel couture salons, updated by renowned decorator Jacques Granger, on the legendary rue Cambon 31 in Paris.
In addition, a series of teasers released fueled interest in the new collection, hinting at the magic to come.
The joyful event required bright colors - the show opened a lace ensemble with embroidered flowers on the cuffs in the color of the floor-length skirt.
Tweed suits with pants and vests, inspired by men's tailoring, were complemented by a confident gait and floral crowns over perfectly tailored hair.
The famous quilted quilted motif has been reproduced by beading and rhinestone embroidery on an elegant black dress.
Dresses with airy flounces conveyed lightness of mood, voluminous skirts made of navy blue silk tulle with embroidered vests - the solemnity of the moment.
After performing their magnificent procession on the floor covered with flowers under the elegant arches, the models took their place in the hall at this celebration of life next to the brand ambassadors and friends who were invited to the couture show.
The finale marked the spectacular appearance of the bride riding a white horse in an incredible ecru wedding dress made of satin crepe, embroidered with rhinestone and pearl butterflies by the famous couture atelier Lesage.
The film at the Grand Palais and the filming at the couture salons at 31 rue Cambon were captured by Dutch director, photographer and graphic designer Anton Corbijn.
