Punk gesture: Valentino Fall 2021 Ready-to-Wear

On the first day of spring, Pierpaolo Picciolo, Valentino's Creative Director, lit the lights of Piccolo Teatro di Milano to hold Valentino ACT collection presentation as a part of Milan Fashion Week.

In the times of pandemic, when all public places are closed for visiting, and the whole world feels unimaginable longing for reunification and cultural life, such an act seems daring to us, as well as to Pierpaolo himself. As he wrote on his Instagram:

"Reopening a theatre today is almost a punk gesture." Pierpaolo Piccioli

The models came out to the stage from the shadows of the empty hall one by one in unison with the sensual voice of Cosima, performing Sinead O'Connor's “Nothing Compares 2U”, accompanied by Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi. There were 66 looks in total – both female and male. It was clear that Pierpaolo Piccioli has done a great job and each look deserved special attention.

Valentino Act Collection

Laconic and discreet, but at the same time sensual and romantic, the Valentino ACT collection was made mainly in the shades of black and white.

Perfectly matching colors were complemented by simple lines and geometric shapes – pointed elongated collars of snow-white shirts visible over perfectly tailored jackets, woolen long coats, short capes, and sweaters with carved diamonds. Under the shirts – black perforated turtlenecks.

The achromatic black and white colors were diluted by generously spilled gold on skirts, sweaters, jackets, and accessories.

The stage that performed the role of a podium, was dominated by flared mini. Pierpaolo Picciolo offered to wear this length in tandem with elegant high heels or massive boots. Up to you!

Perforated, sheer, feather-filled, floor-length dresses were meant to be worn as chic evening dresses by those who have a strong intention to stand out and make a statement.

As Pierpaolo Piccioli pointed out: "This is a more personal romanticism, more intimate, there’s eroticism but this is not a sexy woman or a macho man, there are no stereotypes, only people seen in a personal way, without any clichés." WWD
