The city on the Vltava not only has a lot to offer with its nightlife, its beautiful old town is known worldwide and fascinates. The breathtaking architecture in the style of Gothic, Baroque and Art Nouveau offer an incomparable ensemble. Its most famous landmark is next to Charles Bridge, Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. In addition, Prague is known for its beer, as the Czech Republic is the birthplace of the Pilsner beer, which is popular all over the world today.

Many new restaurants and bars have opened in the last year and there will be a lot more to come this year. Since 2022, for example, the ZEM in Andaz Prague has been the new big player in the city, but it will not remain alone for long. Even for Prague lovers who are often in the city, there is always something new to discover.

Here are the hotspots that will make Prague 2023 interesting.

Where fine dining will be popular in Prague in 2023

Chef Barbora Šimůnková's LEAF is one of the hottest fine dining tips in town. After Šimůnková gained her experience abroad for years, she opened her own restaurant in the - not yet chic - Prague district of Strasnice and is considered an insider tip on the Czech food scene. LEAF is all about sophisticated dishes that are prepared from just a few ingredients, mainly vegetables. The wine recommendations come from sommelier Michal Bílek.

Where to experience Contemporary Art 2023 in Prague

The Kunsthalle Praha (in a sensationally renovated building a stone's throw from the old town) only celebrated its opening in October 2022 and is already being dubbed the new museum for contemporary art alongside the National Gallery Prague.

The Pudil Family Foundation is the NGO behind the Kunsthalle Praha and aims to connect the Czech and international art scene. An extremely touching (but small) exhibition by Czech artist Markéta Magidová is currently on view, while other floors are being prepared for other exhibitions.

A café (for museum visitors: inside on the upper floor) and a bistro in the entrance area complete the (art) experience. Definitely worth seeing: the museum shop in the ticket office. Particular attention is also paid to art education with children.

Check-in and check-out via smartphone and a suitcase compartment for those who stay longer - this is the new apartment experience that numa flow offers. Numa flow in Prague is the right place for anyone who wants to live off the beaten track in the center of Prague in a hip part of the city and still be only a few minutes' walk from the Vltava River and the old town.

With a large refrigerator, kitchenette, coffee machine and the trend beauty brand REN Cosmetics, the modern, luxurious suites are perfect for everyone who wants to get away from it all. Large flat screens and beds as well as plenty of space in the apartments are a luxury that is so rare to find.

Where to have brunch in Prague in 2023

Anežka (the Czech translation of the first name Agnes) opened in a monastery complex in 2022. Just a few meters from the Vltava River, a branch of the National Gallery Prague is housed here, which is also immediately noticeable in the design of the café. Anežka is off the beaten track with her own creations on the menu.

In addition to "Hot Apple" (hot apple juice for cold days), you can also slurp the currently particularly trendy Bone Broth right at the brunch. Another tip: Butter granola made from fermented flakes with yoghurt, pear compote, black currants and walnut confit.

Where to order your cocktails in Prague in 2023

The brand new Almanac x Prague Hotel in downtown Prague may not be fully open yet, but you can already try the Alcron Bar in a side wing of the lobby, which until a few weeks ago was still in operation under the name BE POP and is currently still on Tripadvisor causes confusion. In particular, the Alcron Bar is associated with the hotel that operated at the same address before the Almanac x Prague.

The bartenders stay in the background, but are happy to recommend what suits your taste. The cocktails come in a wide variety of variations, for example served in an espresso maker with dry ice or in a "DIY principle" in a small bag. The interior is reminiscent of the Art Deco tradition, which still characterizes Prague architecturally today. The fact that the Alcron Bar is open every day of the week from 7 a.m. accommodates those who need a stylish nightcap after a visit to the club.
