When sport and cinema come together, the result is undoubtedly a winner.

If a film alone embodies the Olympic Games , that's good. Chariots of Fire by Hugh Hudson released in 1981. It takes place in the 1920s and tells the life of two British athletes predisposed to running at the 1924 Summer Games. They use their gift, one to combat xenophobic prejudices, the other to affirm one's religious faith. The film will experience unprecedented success, obtaining seven nominations for the 1982 Oscars and winning 4, including Best Picture. However, this work is not the only one to evoke the Olympics or sport in general. Boxing is certainly the discipline that inspires the most directors with Muhammad Ali, the Greatest by William Klein (1969), Raging Bull by Martin Scorcese , and with Robert de Niro (1980), Ali by Michael Mann (2001), Rocky ( 1976), From Shadow to Light (2005) with Russell Crowe or the very sad Million Dollar Baby by Clint Eastwood. Let's add golf with The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000) and A Legendary Journey (2005); figure skating with the fabulous I, Tonya with Margot Robbie (2017); karate with Karate Kid (1984); rugby with Invictus by Clint Eastwood with Matt Damon (2009); tennis with The Williams Method (2021), and even freediving with Le Grand Bleu by Luc Besson (1988)...
